“I was living in Slough, and that’s very far from South London, so I couldn’t come until the opening of the Liberation Centre, which happened to align with when the Lost Lessons campaign was launching, and I just wanted to get involved.”

Aditi is involved with Lost lessons  as co-lead of the coordination team. The Lost lessons campaign aims to embed anti-racism in classrooms, demanding for an education that reflects the full breadth of British history , including its colonial legacy. Lost Lessons held its first action at Victoria square, where Aditi and other members lead attendees to the Department of Education.

“It’s one thing to do something you’ve done before and feel comfortable in, but when you’re trying something new and still carrying the weight of responsibility, and still doing it so well, that’s powerful“.

The Liberation centre has become a hub for Aditi to develop her passion for community organising. She co-created horizontal democratic structures that build the skills needed to give young people autonomy on decision making and built long term relationships and connections as a means to build power.

“That has both, really challenged me but also been really exciting, because it’s something that I’d never had – my voice taken seriously.”

“The Advocacy Academy is a space that feels very special. Every time I feel really hopeless about the world and feel like we don’t have autonomy over injustice, being able to be a part of something where we feel like we’re working towards changing things is really special”.
