WELCOME TO MARHABA SPACE!

Marhaba Space will be an open access space for young people aged 13-25 living in Lambeth run out of our Vining Street Hub every Thursday! It will be a brilliant space which upholds all of our values and ideals - and one that is open consistently and free to use for all young people, no questions asked

MARHABA SPACE

WHY DOES MARHABA SPACE EXIST?

Spaces where young people meet, learn, grow, organise, agitate, and dream together are being pushed out of existence, and while we are doing our best to fight that on a structural level as an organisation, the pressing needs with this cost of living crisis have made it clear we need and should do more.

WHO CAN COME?

All young people aged 13-25 and who live in Lambeth are welcome to drop by

between 12 PM - 6PM!

WHAT WILL BE AVAILABLE THERE?

We will keep the space free for the young people to shape as they see fit - through conversations with us and with each other. The young people who join us will be able to do their homework, hang out with friends or get to know people, access our social justice library, listen to music, do art, learn more about organising from us, or simply just exist in a space that is warm, cosy, welcoming, and sees them for the brilliant people they are.

We will make sure there is food at every session - sandwiches the young people can make for themselves, fruit, and hot drinks to have.

The Advocacy Academy is currently funded almost entirely through grants from our amazing trust and foundation partners. We receive no government funding, and only a modest grant from our local authority (thank you, Lambeth!!).

Healthy, sustainable charities, able to grow and plan for the long term, need to be able to rely on a variety of different funding sources. We are particularly keen over the coming years to grow the amount of revenue we receive from individual and corporate donations. This diversity in our revenue supports not only our core growth but also our ability to be flexible and innovative in the way we design and refine our programmes.

SUSTAINING IMPACT: THE IMPORTANT ROLE OF OUR FUNDERS

02

At The Advocacy Academy, our programmes equip young people with the skills, knowledge, and support that are needed to lead transformative change in their communities. Currently, this work is funded almost entirely through generous grants from our amazing trust and foundation partners, we currently receive no government funding—only a modest grant from our local authority, Lambeth (thank you!).

Our funders play a vital role in enabling us to not only sustain but also expand the impact of our work. Without their continued support, we wouldn't be able to create the safe spaces and long-term projects that empower young people to challenge injustice. As we grow, this funding remains key to ensuring we stay innovative and flexible, ready to respond to the evolving needs of our communities.

Check out our current funders and community partners!

BUILDING A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE

Healthy, sustainable charities are able to grow and plan for the long-term. To thrive and grow, we recognise the importance of diversifying our funding sources.

In the coming years, we are keen to increase our revenue from individual and corporate donations. This financial diversity not only supports our core growth but also allows us to be flexible and innovative in the way we design and refine our impactful programmes.

By contributing to our mission, you help us create long-term solutions for the young people we organise with.
